  • Visiting outstanding Chinese national heritage sites that defy the laws of time and human engineering.
  • The passage along the Qutang, Wu and Xiling gorges, renowned for their scenic beauty, on the Yangtze River (nicknamed the Blue River); the magnificent landscapes crossed by the Li River; the trip on the Shennong Stream, a tributary of the Yangtze, aboard a small wooden boat; the Three Gorges Dam that spans the Yangtze River and has the largest hydroelectric gravity dam in the world.
  • The important number of meals planned in this tour are mainly based on local cuisine; the presence of a French-speaking guide throughout your tour, except for of Hong Kong.
  • The city of Xi’an, where the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor is located, was once the most highly populated city in the Middle Kingdom. It was the capital of China during the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties. Today, it has more than 8 million inhabitants and is one of the 10 largest cities in China. This major city of the Shaanxi province was the starting point of the ancient silk routes to Europe.
  • In Chinese, the Great Wall of China is also called Wan Li Chang Cheng which can be translated as “the wall of ten thousand li” (a li is a unit of measurement and the number ten thousand refers to something infinitely large in Chinese culture).
  • The Italian merchant Marco Polo was one of the first Europeans to visit China in the second half of the 13th century. He stayed in an imperial palace in Dadu, now known as Beijing, the winter capital of the Yuan dynasty founded by Kublai Khan. During his long journey, Marco Polo carried out several missions in the service of the Mongol Prince Kublai Khan who was the fifth khagan-emperor of the Mongol Empire from 1260 to 1294.
