This enchanting tour of northern India will take you to Delhi, Mandawa, Jaipur, Suroth, a remote and ancient town, Fatehpur Sikri, and Agra. Your cultural immersion in the Indian states of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh will include: the discovery of havelis, ancient mansions adorned with murals; a visit to the old city of Jaipur defined by its dusty pink colour when it was painted pink to welcome Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert in 1876; the fortified village of Suroth flanked by red sandstone ramparts; the ancient imperial city of Fatehpur Sikri, capital of the Mughal Empire in the 16th-century; the renowned sites of Agra, including the largest fort in India; and several places of interest in Delhi, India’s great megalopolis and home to nearly 20 million people.

The highlight of your itinerary will undoubtedly be a guided visit to the Taj Mahal. Set on the right bank of the Yamuna River, this jewel of Mughal architecture forms a sumptuous white marble palace symbolizing eternal love. In addition to visiting major monuments, you will enjoy a rickshaw or cycle rickshaw ride, an elephant or jeep tour, and a horse-drawn carriage ride to explore the surrounding countryside. During your stay in Eternal India, you will attend a Bollywood movie, a puppet show, an Indian cooking demonstration, handicraft workshops and a magic show.

From 1,434 per person, for 10 days and 8 nights. Non-contractual information as of 28 March 2024. Departure from Paris, Nice, Lyon, Toulouse and Marseille.

  • Visits to royal palaces, impressive forts and centuries-old monuments, including the incomparable Taj Mahal.
  • The activities included in this tour are walks, outings, excursions, guided tours, discovery of artisans and exploration of local markets.
  • All dinners and accommodation are included.
  • Hinduism is the most widespread religion in India, practised by nearly one billion people, or 80% of the population, and is said to have several million deities. This country also has the distinction of having 300,000 mosques, a figure higher than any other nation in the world.
  • For many years the former Governor General of India, the British William Cavendish-Bentinck (1827-1833), has been thought to have issued an order to dismantle the Taj Mahal and to sell each of its marble stones at auction in Britain. Fact or fiction? No-one knows.
  • To restore, repair or renovate the Taj Mahal mausoleum against the wear and tear of time, ancient methods are still used today. Indian workers and craftsmen use the same tools and processes of the past, dating back to the Mughal Empire in the 16th-century.
  • Departures are guaranteed for a minimum of two people. Applications for visas remain your responsibility and can be requested online. No vaccinations are required to travel to India.
  • Only the room on day one will be shared with other travellers (a single room costs an extra €30). Some visits are conducted by an English-speaking guide, depending on the availability of local French-speaking guides.
  • A tip of about €5 per day, per person, is usually given to the guides and drivers (this gesture and the amount remains at your discretion).
