Bolivia is the only country in South America with an Amerindian majority (the Quechuas and Aymaras represent 55% of the population). With very ancient traditions and beliefs, this landlocked country has a great diversity of natural environments (Andean mountains, salt desert, Altiplano highlands, volcanoes, valleys, savannahs, lakes, tropical forests...). Bolivia also contains various historical sites from the pre-Columbian and colonial periods. Its multicultural richness is reflected in the number of official languages recognized by the Constitution of Bolivia (37).
